Silla Carron, 62, is a British community activist from Camden Town, London, UK.〔Camden New Journal 3 December 2009 ('Fergie snubs offer to join Silla's TV show ) (Retrieved 2010-07-07)〕 ==Biography== She has been prominent in leading residents' participation in improving their living environment and reducing crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB). She has led campaigns in Camden, Plymouth and Bristol aiming at turning round sink estates with high levels of crime, vandalism and drug-taking. She has become prominent in the media in recent years and has appeared in two series of the BBC One programme,〔(Two Four (production company) )〕 'The Estate We're In' in 2008 and 2010 made for the BBC by Two Four Broadcast. The programme has won a number of broadcast industry awards including RTS Best Daytime Programme.〔(BBC The Estate We're In 2010 )〕 An article in The Daily Telegraph alleged that some scenes in the 2010 series of 'The Estate We're In' were filmed in a different estate in Bristol to that claimed in the programme.〔The Telegraph 7 July 2010 ('BBC accused of misleading viewers in estate documentary' ) (Retrieved 2010-07-07)〕 She operates as a 'tenants' champion' on a community action model of social action favoured by British government under New Labour's 'partnership' model. Community action has also been encouraged by the Conservative Party, part of the coalition led by David Cameron. This model involves a strong element of 'responsibilisation' contrasting with a 'top-down' model of government from the centre.
